Caps perfect through the weekend?

It’s possible, but I’m intrigued by their next game. Tomorrow they go on the road to face the Oilers who are at the bottom of the league in scoring but are shutdown in  goals allowed and their PK has been top shelf. The goalie duo of Devan Dubnyk and veteran Nikolai Khabibulin have been amazing allowing 1.63 GAA in their first 8 games of this very younf NHL season.

Of course, the flipside of the argument is an amazing Capitals team that’s 1st in scoring  (4.1 goals/gm) and 6th in goals allowed (2.0 goals/gm). Goalie Tomas Vokoun has played all but one of the Caps first 7 games and has recorded an amazing 6-0-0 line allowing only 11 goals, averaging 1.8 GAA stopping .944% of shots.  Their offense isn’t shabby either with Center Nicklas Backstrom leading the team in points (10) and assists (8). C Marcus Johansson and LW Jason Chimera lead the team in goals with 4 a piece.

If the Caps survive Edmonton, they have a Saturday matchup against Vancouver who still look like they’re reeling from their Stanley Cup runner up finish at 4-5-1 after tonight’s shutout loss the the Blues.
