Sidney Crosby’s Triumphant Return

16 Minutes of WOW!

Sidney Crosby and the rest of the Pittsburgh Penguins faithful waited over 10 and a half months for this day. Crosby took the ice tonight at home in his debut game at home against the New York Islanders in what looked for all intents and purposes like a preseason tune up game for Sid the Kid.

Coming back to his first game since getting knocked out of the 2010-2011 season on January 5th, Crosby skated energetic shifts each time he was on ice and looked like someone on a mission to prove to himself and the world that he was ready for action. It didn’t take long to light up the scoreboard and the crowd at Consol Energy Center, 6 minutes in fact, before Crosby scored his first goal of the season on a backhand past Islanders goalie Anders Nilsson.

He would also add two assists and a final goal in the 3rd period to tally 4 points and earn the First Star of the game in his first game back and I would encourage you to check out the highlights of his Sid-Sational return as the Pens have just become instant Stanley Cup favorites in a lot of people’s minds. Summoning my inner Lee Corso, I say, “Not So Fast, my Friends…” and remind these folks that one game does not a Stanley Cup run make and we’ll see where we’re at come April 7th, the final day of NHL regular season action.

Oh, and Sid, you’ve had all this time off…can you work on that moustache, man? Wow!
