Hossa’s 400th Career Goal

Congrats to Blackhawks winger Marian Hossa joining the 400 goal club, the latest in a select group of only 84 other players to achieve the feat. Check out the vid of the goal here on a quirky ricochet shot off Islander goalie Al Montoya…from behind the net. Note to all you aspiring goalies out there: Lock that leg to the post when play is happening behind you!

Hossa has been in the league for 13 years and was playing his 925th career game when the milestone goal was scored.

Latest suspension’s

The NHL’s Sin Bin has grown by three players today, headlined by Oiler’s defenseman Andy Sutton. This is Sutton’s second suspension this year and will be indefinite according to the league’s Department of Player Safety coming on the heels of a hit he laid on Alexei Ponikarovsky of the Hurricanes last night. Sutton’s first suspension was a five gamer after a shot to the head delivered to the Av’s Gabriel Landeskog in late October.

Speaking of the Av’s, Kevin Porter will be suspended without pay for four games for his violation of Rule 50.1, Leading with the knee, travelling across the ice to deliver the knee to the Canucks David Booth, injuring Booth’s right knee. Watch the vid here and judge for yourself, but it looked pretty painful to this writer. Porter will be able to return to action December 17th when the Av’s host the Caps.

Finally, Buffalo will be without the services of Ville Leino after he delivered an elbow to side of the Flyers Matt Read’s head. Read was not injured and continued play but the elbow was pretty blatant and was apparently missed by the officiating crew as no penalty was called.
