New Features Alert and an Andy Sutton follow up

New Features!

Keep an eye out over the coming week as we roll out two new features! Each Saturday, we’ll bring you our Play of the Week, followed by our Save of the Week on Sunday’s. To give you a taste, my personal favorite save of the week came from last Saturday’s game featuring the Sabres and Predators.

For those of you who don’t recall, Sabres goalie Ryan Miller was playing in his first game back after suffering a concussion from a shot he took from Milan Lucic of the Bruins who basically decked him when he was playing well out of the crease. First game back, and Predators forward Jordin Tootoo decided to play Miller hard. As you’ll see in the video, picking on a goalie who just came back from a concussion was probably a bad decision.

Not only does Miller make the save, he makes a fool of Tootoo as well. I’m almost certain Tootoo wasn’t expecting this reaction from Miller and I say “Good on ya, Ryan, and many happy returns!”

By the way, if you have other ideas for features you’d like to see on our blog, comment on this story, post it on our Facebook Page, Tweet us @bleacherbumblog or drop us some good ol’ fashioned email at  bleacherbumsblog@gmail.com

Sutton Suspension Update

As we reported earlier this week, Andy Sutton was suspended by the NHL indefinitely pending a review which took place today of the incident from Wednesday’s Habs/’Canes game. The result was an 8 game suspension due to his repeat offender status (a player receiving a suspension within the past 18 months is deemed a repeat offender) and Sutton will be eligible to return on New Year’s Eve, having already missed two games since his suspension took effect.

Great play of the week! Tootoo deserved to get a beat down and I’m glad he got suspended. Two games was too lenient in my opinion.
